Last year, Australia was put through a rollercoaster of emotions with the relationship that was MAFS' Simon and Alene.
Throughout the season, our love grew for the 'newlyweds' as the two became increasingly fonder of each other with every passing day.
And whilst all the couples participating in this seemingly cursed season of Married at First Sight were crashing and burning *cough* Andrew 'Jonsey' Jones and Cheryl *cough*, Simon and Alene were too infatuated with each other to even notice.
Now, one year later, Alene opened up in an interview with OK! magazine, saying she still gets stopped on the street by fans, asking her what ever happened between her and her ex-TV-boyfriend.
"[They] ask me if Simon and I are still together," she says.
Once the season ended and the contestants' lives returned to the daily grind, the couple realised they led different lives and decided to split.
"We tried. We gave it 200 per cent," she admits. "It was a difficult decision. I knew that it wasn't going to be easy.
"Besides the distance, the different lifestyles and what he wants to do with his life and what kind of future he wants for himself, there was a huge difference there in the goals.
"So we knew that someone had to sacrifice and we reached a stage where we were like, 'Let's be honest, someone is not going to be happy eventually,'" she continued.
While the couple decided to part ways, the 31-year-old admits that they're still good pals and even stay in touch!
"We came to the conclusion that it was hard and that it was best to part ways while we are still friends and don't hate each other.
"We text each other," she tells.
As for what's next, Alene says she's ready to find her true love, however, is in no rush!
"I believe the right person will come at the right time," she says.
