Hell hath no fury like a Survivor fan scorned, and plenty of them are not happy after last night's twist!
On Sunday night's episode of Australian Survivor we were treated to an absolutely epic display of strategy and confusion from Asaga at tribal council. It was unclear whether Pete, Sarah or Luke would be voted out, with people whispering in each other's ears as their plans changed throughout tribal. Even Tara managed to make herself a target by speaking out against everyone else's strategy. Viewers watching at home were excited to see exactly how this would play out. You can watch the full thing here.
But then once again, the producers decided to throw in a curveball. Because Jonathan surprised everyone by announcing that they weren't actually going to vote. Instead, the first person to stand up could commit a mutiny and join the other tribe - who happened to be sitting on the other side of the fire and watching every word.
After a few moments of deliberation, Pete, who was clearly on the bottom of Asaga, stood up and joined Samatau.
And hardcore Survivor fans were not impressed by yet another non-elimination tribal council.
However there were plenty of people who also enjoyed the wild antics of tribal.
We now have one megatribe full of well fed, happy and fit people. And one tiny tribe of five people who will potentially get picked off one by one. Sound familiar? That's exactly what happened last year.
This is not the first succesful mutiny in Survivor history. In the US season Survivor: Cook Islands, tribemates were offered the chance to mutiny before a challenge and join the other tribe. Two of them, Candice and Penner, took the opportunity to switch. Neither of them won that season, and their mutiny cemented four other players into an unbreakable alliance that took them to the end.
Will this move pay off for Pete? Should Sarah have jumped up before he had the chance? Only time will tell. Let's hope the merge is coming soon so we can see how all of this plays out!
