A Popular Smoke Detector Has Been Recalled Because It May Not Detect Smoke

A popular smoke detector/alarm has bee recalled after it was found a yellow protective cap may have been left on the product during it’s manufacturing process.

The yellow cap can compromise the alarms ability to detect smoke, which would mean no alarm would sound during a fire.

Customers who have a  Quell QPI9010 Dual Sensor Smoke Alarm should inspect the alarm for the presence of a yellow cap on the bottom of the alarm.

If there is no yellow cap present, you can re-install the product. However, if a yellow cap is present, you must contact Quell for further instructions and get a free replacement.

Customers should not take apart the alarm or remove the cap.

Consumers can contact Quell on 1800 654 435 or by email to quell-recall@chubb.com.au

The product was sold at Bunnings, Mitre 10, Anaconda, Officeworks, Masters & Kmart between 1 November 2016 and 6 July 2017.
