We all know the importance of sunscreen and the slip, slop, slap routine in summer here in Australia, but there’s a new beach trend set to hit Aussie shores that some believe is the answer to sun-protection.
The trend originally began in China, where 30,000 of these products have been sold there in the last year.
The trend? Face-kinis.
Created by former accountant Zhang Shifan, the face-kini is a nylon mask that covers your face to protect it from sun damage, leaving holes only for your eyes and mouth.
Beach-goers in China have used them as sun masks and to also prevent jellyfish stings, and as an alternative to sunscreen.
While sunscreen is a necessary for anyone spending time in the sun, many believe this is a great addition for sun protection, to prevent skin cancer.
While the trend is hugely popular in China, it is yet to be determined how it will go on Aussie beaches.
We guess we’ll see how this mildly terrifying look pans out this summer!
