Selena Gomez has debuted some amazing new music this year, even while she has battled for her life.
After such a huge year, it’s no surprise that Selena was awarded Billboard’s Woman Of The Year, because, well, she’s an amazing human being…
Selena attended the 2017 Billboard Women in Music event this week and accepted her award, giving a very emotional speech.
Selena accepted the award from Elle Fanning and Francia Raisa (her best friend, who donated her kidney to Selena to help save her life), saying, “To be honest, I think Francia should be getting this award, because she saved my life,” before getting emotional and teary, unable to go on.
Once she composed herself, Selena continued with her speech.
"I feel incredibly lucky… Honestly, I couldn't be more grateful for the position I've been given in my career."
"I want people to know I respect the platform that I have so deeply. Because I knew I wanted to be a part of something great.
"Specifically this year, I would like to thank my amazing team and my family because they stuck with me through some really hard times.
"I got to do a lot this year, even though I had a couple of other things to do.
“...I'm so grateful for the older women who have lifted all of us up."
Gomez added, after thanking Elle and Francia, "I don't know how I'll ever repay it but maybe I'll make an epic album next year.”
