Samuel Johnson's sister, Connie, has won the hearts of Australia… but last night on The Project she revealed her heartbreaking news.
Connie has had a long seven-year battle with breast cancer and sadly, her fight is coming to an end.
She told the panel that she is “terrified” of dying and that she doesn’t think she will be alive to see Christmas this year.
Connie also revealed that she expected her doctors to find alternative treatments for her so she could continue her fight… but instead she was given the horrific news that her body could no longer take chemotherapy.
She stated, “They told me I couldn't continue on the chemo because my organs were struggling too much.”
She also opened up to the panel saying that she is really struggling to comes to terms with the fact that one day it will be her final moments with her two sons Willoughby, 10, and Hamilton, 9.
She said “I have this thought all the time where one day I'll be holding the children's hands... then I'll be gone. My pain will be over, and theirs will just be beginning.”
Adding, “Over the past seven years, I've gone into some very deep pits of despair. I feel like if I wasn't focused on the Big Heart Project right now, that's where I would be. My health is declining quite rapidly. I can't be the Mum I want to be. I just don't have the strength.”
Even with everything the family has going on, they still want to make a difference.
Today, in Canberra, Samuel, Connie and the Big Heart Project will be teaming up in hope to break the world record for the most coins in a line.
The record currently stands at 75.4KM.
The gates opened at 7 AM and all money raised will go straight to cancer research.
She has so much strength; we can’t even imagine what they are going through.
Our thoughts go out to everyone involved.
