While you may imagine that Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum's engagement was nothing but rainbows and sunshine, it turns out that things didn't go entirely according to plan.
And it's all thanks to Channing Tatum himself.
In a recent interview on BBC Radio One's 'Breakfast Show With Nick Grimshaw', the now happily married actor revealed that things didn't run so smoothly in the lead-up to his proposal to wife, Jenna Dewan-Tatum.
The 37-year-old decided to play a practical joke on his then girlfriend, to try and deter her from thinking that he was about to get down on one knee.
"When I proposed to my wife, I did something pretty cruel because I thought she was on to me.
"I basically told her I never wanted to get married to try to throw her off," he said.
"I told her, 'I don't believe in the institution of marriage, and I don't think I ever want to get married.'
"She basically broke down crying. I thought, 'this is not going well at all,' so I had to propose to her sooner rather than later."
Well, at least he succeeded in throwing her off? Right?
Alas, Jenna must have forgiven his cruel joke, as eight years later, they're still happily married!
