It was the feud that spawned two albums. It was a case of she said/she said and now... it's over.
Once upon a time, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift were friends, not besties, but smile-for-a-photo-together sort of musical acquaintances. You get the point.
Then a sh*t storm the size of Australia started brewing when someone stole someone else's dancers, Kim and Kanye got involved along the way and all of a sudden, someone is selling Team Katy and Team Swifty t-shirts somewhere.
Fast forward over a not so swell time for the girls and it's done. Stick a fork in the feud, RIP passive aggressive songs about each other.
Katy has reached out to Taylor and called a truce.
Taylor posted the evidence onto her Instagram story overnight, an olive wreath (a sign of peace) delivered to her from Katy, along with a hand written note that says:
Hey Old Friend, I've been doing some reflecting on past miscommunications and... feelings between us and want to clear the air... I'm deeply sorry...
It seems as though the sign of friendship has been accepted with Taylor saying 'Thank you Katy'.
This is on the cusp of Taylor kicking off her world tour and we think it's a) about time and b) a great new start for both artists.
For those out of the loop, here's a brief run down of the feud's timeline:
September, 2014 - Taylor says in an interview with Rolling Stone that 'Bad Blood' is inspired by a beef she has with another singer. Katy reacts by Tweeting "Watch out for the Regina George in sheeps clothing".
January, 2015 - Katy confirms in an interview with Billboard that the Tweet was aimed at Taylor.
May, 2015 - Taylor says she will no longer talk about Katy in interviews.
July, 2015 - Katy takes a swing at Taylor, accusing her of pitting women against each other.
July, 2016 - Calvin Harris breaks up with Taylor and brings her feud into the drama Tweeting, "I know you're off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy ETC but I'm not that guy, sorry. I won't allow it"
May, 2017 - Katy debuts her song 'Swish, Swish' rumoured to be about Taylor Swift. She then appeared on James Corden's Carpool Karaoke saying that Taylor started the feud so she should finish it.
June, 2017 - Taylor puts her entire song catalog back on streaming services, right as Katy Perry's album drops
August, 2017 - Taylor drops 'Look What You Made Me Do', taking aim at everyone who has ever shaded her, including Katy with MULTIPLE references to her in the clip.
May, 2018 - Feud over.
