After Gal Gadot signed a 3-film contract to portray Wonder Woman in Batman vs. Superman, Wonder Woman and Justice League, it’s just been announced there is more to come.
When it rains it pours!
After only creating the first Wonder Woman film since the character’s introduction in the bloody 1940s THIS YEAR, Warner Bros. has announced a sequel is on the way!
Producer Jon Berg revealed to Variety that he and director Patty Jenkins are working on a script together.
“Patty and I are writing the treatment right now. The goal is to make another great 'Wonder Woman' film. I had a blast making it with Patty the first time. We’ve got a cool idea for the second one.”
Fellow producer, Geoff Johns also shared DC’s plans to create more female-led comic book films.
“We’ve got a lot of plans for our female characters just because they’re great characters. There are many wonderful elements to the DC Universe, and one of them is that we have the best female characters, heroes and villains, in the world. No one is going to beat Wonder Woman and Batgirl and Harley Quinn.”
As for the plot, Patty Jenkins told Toronto Sun that she’s keen to explore Wonder Woman’s story as an established superhero in the States.
“I’m excited for her to come to America and become the Wonder Woman we are all familiar with from having grown up around her as an American superhero.
“I’d like to bring her a little farther along into the future and have a fun, exciting storyline that is its own thing. Wonder Woman 1 is so much about her becoming the person she is. I can’t wait to spring forward with who she is and have another great standalone superhero film.”
Here's hoping we get to hear Wonder Woman's famous theme song in the next one...
