Michael Caine Just Settled The Debate Over The Ending Of ‘Inception’

Michael Caine Just Settled The Debate Over The Ending Of ‘Inception’ Warner Bros.

Firstly: SPOILER WARNING! Seriously, if you haven’t seen Inception, go back now. Why are you here?

Okay, let’s continue on.

It’s one of the most debated endings in the past decade: Did Leonardo DiCaprio's character Dominic make it back to reality at the end of Inception, or is he stuck in a dream?

WELL, Michael Caine has decided to settle this once and for all!

Speaking at a recent screening of the movie in London, the actor revealed the following:

“When I got the script of Inception, I was a bit puzzled by it, and I said to [director Christopher Nolan], ‘I don’t understand where the dream is.’

“I said, ‘When is it the dream and when is it reality?’

“He said, ‘Well, when you’re in the scene it’s reality.’ So, get that — if I’m in it, it’s reality. If I’m not in it, it’s a dream.”

As it turns out, Michael’s character Professor Stephen Miles IS in that final scene, when he meets Dominic at the airport as he finally returns home to the US and his family.

A happy ending for once!!
