We all have, or are, that one friend who can find a bazillion things out about someone, just by stalking their social media pages…
Yeah, it’s a bit creepy, but it’s a skill.
Furthermore, it turns out that it’s not only a skill you can impress your mates with, it’s one you can actually get paid for.
One man, Andy Bartram, basically gets paid to do exactly that.
Ex copper Andy took inspiration from the huge MTV show Catfish, deciding to set up his own investigation agency to help weed out fake social and dating profiles from the real ones, and even more!
He spoke about his agency, Vet Your Date, to Kent Live, explaining:
“I have done those kinds of searches as an intelligence analyst and while I was watching Catfish on MTV I thought it could potentially be a good idea to do something similar.
"Anybody could do it, but in the same way, if you need your boiler fixed, you would get a professional in because of safety. I have spent a number of years as a criminal intelligence analyst and I have had police training.
"That gives me the power to interrogate web pages to get results back.
"I have got lots of friends who use it quite a lot and there are numerous different apps people use.
"It is all swipe right and swipe left. 'Online dating is such a massive industry these days.
"Although I set it up as a vetting thing for dating it could also be used for other purposes."
What does he charge? Andy charges around $35 per job, which will get you some juicy diets on that Tinder match you were concerned about.
Listen, we’re not all ex coppers or professional sleuths, but surely we could earn a few side bucks by pimping out our social stalking skills…
