It's shaping up as a MASSIVE weekend when the Coates Hire Newcastle 500 returns for its 2nd year running with a jam packed itinerary!

With so much going on over the 3 day event, we're here to help you plan your weekend from the smallest details to the biggest events. So keep reading for the most comprehensive guide to the Newcastle 500...

How To Get There

Gates will open to the public at 8am Friday, 8:15am Saturday, and 7:30am Sunday. With limited parking around the precinct, public transport is strongly encouraged for travel to and from the event. Here's a list of the most convenient travel options:

A park and ride facility will be in operation at Stockton where you can park your car and continue on to the event by ferry across the harbour. Be sure to pre-book a parking space, as this is expected to be a popular option over the weekend!

If you'd rather catch the train, make sure to hop off at Newcastle Interchange (the closest station to the the event).

Shuttle buses will be travelling between Newcastle Interchange and Market St Lawn, between McDonald Jones Stadium event parking and Newcastle.

Let us know in the Facebook comments if you have any other great travel recommendations!

There are a number of ticket options available for the weekend racing and events! Check out all the options and book yours online HERE.

Kids 12 and under will receive free Trackside admission with a paying adult.

A Map Of The Track

The Supercars drivers will take on a challenging 2.6km circuit through the eastern end of the Newcastle CBD. The circuit has 14 turns, travelling along the Shortland Esplanade, Nobbys Beach and Newcastle Harbour. The race lap record of 1:10.6403 was set by David Reynolds at the debut 2017 Supercars Championship event last year.

Don't forget to check out the Supercars Official App for an interactive map of the precinct.

What's On Over The Weekend?

There are HEAPS of events happening throughout the Newcastle 500, but here are some of our top picks for what to get up to...

Head to Gregson Park for the Hamilton Super Start-Up on Thursday, where you'll get to meet your fav Supercars drivers, before watching them cruise down Beaumont Street. It's happening from 4:30 - 6pm.

Enjoy a delicious trackside Grand Finale Breakfast on Thursday, mingling with the drivers and checking out the track, all in support of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.

Get amongst the action in a behind-the scenes Pit Walk! Take a tour of the pit lane and witness teams and drivers as they prepare for the 500km race!

Craig Lowndes

Be sure to show up and show some support for the legendary driver Craig Lowndes, who will be competing in his last professional race!

In 2015, Lowndes became the first Supercars driver to reach 100 race wins, and you can spread the love by using the #ThanksCL hashtag on social media, or collecting a FREE limited edition #ThanksCL flag at any Information Booth on site throughout the event.

Concert Information

On Saturday night, check out the incredible live entertainment line-up at the Coates Hire Newcastle 500 concert!

Featuring Simple Minds (Don't You Forget About Me), Birds of Tokyo (Unbreakable) and The Delta Riggs (Never Seen This Before), this concert is definitely not one to miss!
