McDonald Jones Stadium this Saturday 5th May is going to attract over 30,000 punters all trying to get to the game or surrounding live sites when Newcastle Jets take on Melbourne Victory in the Hyundai A-League Grand Final.

Due to the sellout crowds and multiple LIVE SITES across at King Edward Park and Speers Point Park, Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter Scot McDonald has announced extra bus, train and ferry services.

“The A-League Grand Final is a major event for Newcastle. The NSW Government is providing additional services to get to and from the stadium and helping to ensure the match is safe and enjoyable,” Mr MacDonald said.

Gates Open: 6.00pm

Game Starts: 7.50pm

Before the game:

Buses:
SWANSEA/ QUEENS WHARF (via Mayfield): 3 extra buses have been added.
GLENDALE: 2 extra buses have been added.
From the Airport: Port Stephens Coaches will run buses to and from Newcastle Airport to support flights from all states.

Trains:
SYDNEY: Extra trains will run to Broadmeadow from Telarah and Gosford.
Trains services departing as normal from Central.
(look for the HUGE Newcastle Jets flag flying above the station when you arrive into Broadmeadow).

Ferry:
Stockton Ferry services will be extended until 1.00am on Sunday to leave Newcastle.

Park and Ride:
Buses operating every 10 minutes until kick-off to the stadium from the following locations: Westfield Kotara, Bunn Street Wallsend, Customs House in Newcastle

Moore Parking Station in NEWCASTLE will be open and FREE until 1am

Stadium Parking:
ALL PARKING IS SOLD OUT.

After the game:

Once the final whistle has blown there will be five special trains on standby at Broadmeadow to get fans home from the game and buses ready to depart.

Park and Ride:
Buses operating every 10 minutes until late from the stadium to the following locations: Westfield Kotara, Bunn Street Wallsend, Customs House in Newcastle

Road Closures/ Clearways:

Young Road between Turton Road and Womboin Road will be closed to traffic from 3pm to 10pm. Buses and taxis will permitted through the closure.
Special Event Clearways will also operate between 3pm and Midnight on both sides of Turton Rd between Griffiths Rd and Lambton Rd. (cars parked illegally will be towed)

Rolling roadblocks will be in effect during tomorrow's march as supporters march from the Sunnyside Tavern (Victory Supporters) and from Wests New Lambton (Jets Supporters) from 6pm on SATURDAY.

More than 200 police including mounties, the dog squad and the Polair helicopter will be out keeping the peace. 

 

Speed Limit Changes:

The Speed limit will be reduced to 40km/h on Turton Road and Griffiths Road.


LIVE SITES:

Speers Point Park:

Hit106.9 will be broadcasting LIVE from 5-8pm with giveaways, free WiFi, food and coffee stalls, and prizes, as well as #Hit1069sundaysesh with Ed & Gia Hosting the event.
The big screen will stream live the 2018 Hyundai A-League Grand Final!
People are encouraged to bring along a picnic blanket or camp chairs, with kick-off starting at 7.50pm.

Parking:
Plenty of free parking options are available including;
- Marked spaces around Speers Point Park and Speers Point Swim Centre
- Lake Macquarie Football Facility car park
- Council Administration Building car park in Main Road, Speers Point
- Marked spaces along Creek Reserve Road

Accessibility and inclusion:
- Accessible parking available
- Accessible toilets on site
- Interconnecting pathways to navigate the site.
- Including You Tent – a space that provides support for people with disabilities, their families and carers, and other people in the community with sensory needs, to attend regular community events.

King Edward Park:

If you are heading to the grand final live site at King Edward Park on Saturday night, there are free shuttle buses operating from various locations throughout the city centre from 2pm until late. The buses will run every 15 mins and there are two routes operating.
