Our political leaders are being told to no longer bury their heads in the sand over drug and alcohol abuse. The Australian Professional Society on Alcohol and Other Drugs is putting out the message to our pollies. Given that last year alcohol accounted for 34% of all treatment episodes, and amphetamines accounted for 25%, Mr Farrell says that the problem is bad across the country, but even worse throughout regional and rural Australia, and more investment is needed.
