Clive Palmer has announced Former Northern Pride CEO Greg Dowling as the candidate for the federal division of Herbert.
It's as Mr Palmer's latest polls show there's a very slim chance of him taking out the seat at the upcoming federal election.
He'd originally intended to contest the lower house seat of Herbert in Townsville until the AEC stepped in.
Dowling was born in Cairns and raised in Ingham and made his mark playing rugby league for Townsville, Wynnum- Manly and was a founding member of the Broncos.
The 60-year-old came under fire while CEO for the Northern Pride which ended in him storming out of the role in 2018.
