So, you want to launch a swimwear brand huh? Well thankfully, you can, as long as you’re willing to put in the hard work. If you’re looking for some serious #careerinspo and #bodygoals, you need to get around Karina Irby from Moana Bikini (P.S. Moana Bikini was around WAY before the movie Moana – take that, Disney!). Not only does she run a hugely successful bikini brand, but Karina also hosts a Facebook community of like-minded, supportive women who uplift each other on a day-to-day basis.

Sounds amazing right? But then again, you’re probably wondering how the hell you get started on something as HUGE as this. How do you get inspiration? How do you find a manufacturer? How do you market your product? Why am I suddenly thinking about my dinner for tonight? Soz, got sidetracked. Thankfully, I managed to chat to Karina about all things on how to create a brand and I managed to squeeze out some pretty great tips:

Be unique and have original designs
Karina has had her fair share of copycats in the industry and that is not only SO annoying for the original designer, but it makes you look like you don’t have any fabulous ideas of your own. Sure, you can look up to a brand, but when it comes to creating your own work, be original and find your inspiration. Karina doesn’t let copycats get to her too much because it gets her super motivated and catapults her into her next collection.

Take advantage of social media

Social media is a godsend when it comes to building a brand. For those of you starting your own venture, making sure you have an active presence on Instagram, Facebook and everything in between will help your brand grow and you’ll gain loyal customers. Just make sure you’re not like, buying fake followers or anything because people will be able to tell and that’s a bit of a lame thing to do…#yaknowwhatImean?

Let your challenges become your successes

No matter what industry you’re in, there’s always going to be challenges that come your way – this is part of the learning process. So, what do you do? Instead of crying in the corner of the bathroom with a bottle of red, turn your challenges into your successes! Accept defeat, learn from it and move on – this way, you’ll be ready for anything. Always make an effort to make things better so you don’t face the same setback again.
