Yesterday, the AFL community was shocked to learn that Bulldogs premiership player Tom Boyd had decided to retire from football at just 23 years of age.

In a statement, Boyd explained:

“My decision to retire now is a reflection of issues I’ve had over the past five years both with physical injury and with mental health, and they have now accumulated to a point where I just don’t have the desire to play or the enjoyment of the game I used to have.”

This morning, Xavier discussed Tom’s announcement and explained how the bullying players receive and the pressure put on them is sometimes just not worth the money.
