The greatest day of the Aussie calendar is right around the corner, and if you're scratching your head on how to spend it, worry no more...

Kershaw Gardens is hosting a Great Australian Bites event this Australia Day (Saturday 26th January), presented by Queensland Government in partnership with Rockhampton Regional Council and the National Australia Day Council, with everything from pop-up food stalls and markets to live music and entertainment. It's guaranteed fun for the whole family!

Head down from 3pm to catch the live acts, or join in for a game of backyard cricket and other iconic Aussie games, including a bull riding championship!

If all that hasn't sold you yet, QLD chef and former host of Ready, Steady, Cook Dominique Rizzo will be running a cooking demonstration on site as our local Australia Day Ambassador.

And don't forget to throw on your best Australia Day outfit, with prizes up for grabs for the best dressed Aussie icon.

If Kershaw is a little out of the way, there's stacks of other community events happening around the region, including:

  • An epic water park and sausage sizzle combo at Cedric Archer Park, hosted by Gracemere Men's Shed, from 8 - 11am.
  • A day of food, face painting, rides and entertainment at Mt Morgan Big Dam from 9am - 1pm, hosted by Mouth Morgan Rotary Club.
  • A community BBQ with stacks of classic games and sports at Bouldercombe Recreation Complex from 4pm, hosted by Bouldercombe Progress Association.

Then head over to the Heritage Village Australia Day Markets on Sunday 27th January from 8am - 1:30pm to find a unique line up of stalls, as well as farm animals and epic rides.
