A Corrective Services officer has been charged over the alleged ongoing sexual abuse of female inmates at a correctional facility in Western Sydney.

The 62-year-old was arrested at a home in Kurrajong Heights on Wednesday night, with police allege he sexually assaulted two inmates at the Berkshire Park facility on numerous occasions between 2016 and 2017.

Corrective Services Investigation Unit Commander Detective Inspector Robert Hollows has praised the work of Strike Force Nautilus detectives.

“Our investigators work closely with Corrective Services NSW to target any corrupt or illegal activity that may occur within these facilities,” he said.

“By taking swift and appropriate action we hope to prevent these types of behaviours which pose a risk to the security of the facilities and the safety of other staff and inmates.”

He's been refused bail and will front court today.

The man’s employment with Corrective Services NSW has since been suspended.
