Western Australia will remove its restrictions on masks this Friday, shifting to a new set of guidelines and public health regulations.

Premier Mark McGowan flagged the changes, which include the removal of capacity limitations at all venues and the return of quarantine-free travel.

The heralded G2G pass system will be officially scrapped, allowing entry into venues without showing vaccination certificate.

Close contacts of cases are not required to undergo seven days of isolation if no signs of symptoms.

Face masks are all but gone, residents statewide still require them on public transport, rideshare services, at hospitals/aged care facilities and airports.

It comes as Western Australia reported 6,711 new COVID-19 infections, the decision was based on a third dose vaccination rate of 79%.

There are currently 249 people in hospital, 11 of which are in intensive care.

"Based on our current COVID-19 situation, it is clear we are past the peak of our Omicron wave," Premier McGowan said in a tweet.

"WA has secured the soft landing we planned thanks to efforts of Western Australians, our world-leading vaccination rates, and common-sense decision to delay the full border reopening."

"Western Australians have been magnificent, and now we can take the next important steps forward, safely."
