Victoria's Lockdown To Be Extended For Seven Days

Victoria’s lockdown will be extended for another seven days as the state continues to bring any developing Delta variant outbreaks under control.

Premier Dan Andrews made the announcement just after 11.15am on Tuesday confirming the state’s contact tracers needed more time.

“We need to avoid what is going on in Sydney at the moment, and we are determined to do that.”

Victoria recorded 13 local COVID-19 cases on Monday, including four announced yesterday, 12 of these cases are connected to current outbreaks, and one is still under investigation.

The lockdown was planned to end at midnight Tuesday, but the Premier confirmed yesterday it would be extended.

There are currently 96 active cases and around 18,000 close contacts.

The Premier also announced changes to travel rules between Victoria and NSW.
