The newly refurbished Goldfields War Museum was officially reopened in it's original home at the Boulder Town Hall and locals were able to get their first taste over the weekend.

The official opening began with a short parade from the original site of the museum at the Burt Street Community Hub to the Boulder Hall where Kalgoorlie-Boulder mayor John Bowler cut the opening tape to celebrate the $1.2 million redevelopment.

The refurbishment highlights the significant involvement of local residents during various wars and conflicts in the 21st Century with six rooms at the Boulder Town Hall dedicated to the war museum, 13 years since the 111-year-old heritage-listed building was first chosen as a permanent location.

Kalgoorlie-Boulder CEO John Walker says it was a great day and they're always looking at ways to keep visitors coming through the doors and improving local tourism performances.

The Goldfields War Museum is open Monday to Friday from 10:00am to 4:00pm (excluding public holidays), and on Boulder Market Days (third Sunday of each month) from 10:00am to 12:00pm.
