Fans of The Walking Dead got a bit of a shock in the most recent episode, watching the final scenes of Andrew Lincoln’s character, Rick Grimes, play out before their eyes.

Viewers weren’t too sure how to react as - SPOILER ALERT - Rick accidentally impaled himself while trying to distract a while lot of zombies away from his mates, but somehow managed to pull himself free, jump on his horse and ride away. Then, he hallucinated his living and dead loved ones on the journey, due to the amount of blood he lost. Eventually, to save everyone… Rick fires at some dynamite and blows up the all the zombies and, sadly, himself...

Or so it seemed - because we then learn that Rick hasn’t died and is rescued, leaving fans confused and a little disappointed with the ending.

Fans were excited that Andrew would still be continuing on in the show, but instead, he will STILL be leaving the show and will be starring in three new Walking Dead MOVIES instead!

The big-budget films will see Andrew reprise his role as Rick and will air on the same network!

Production will begin in 2019 and Scott M. Gimple is currently writing the first film!

Scott revealed to The Hollywood Reporter, "The story of Rick will go on in films. Right now, we're working on three but there's flexibility in that.

"Over the next several years, we're going to be doing specials, new series are quite a possibility, high-quality digital content and then some content that defies description at the moment.

"We're going to dig into the past and see old characters. We're going to introduce new characters and new situations."

The whole franchise will now be expanded further and we cannot wait!

"Rick Grimes is an amazing character and Andy has done an amazing performance.

"There were story ideas brewing that, as the years went on, seemed very compatible with continuing to tell the Rick story in another format that would allow him time with his family.”
