Police have charged three people after an allegedly stolen vehicle was driven at a police motorcyclist in Toowoomba overnight.

Around 10pm last night, two men and a woman have gone to an address in Esther Street, Mount Lofty, where they allegedly threatened a male resident with a knife, demanding his car.

A police officer observed the car, a Ford Falcon, on Griffith Street around 10:13pm, run a red light at the intersection of Mort Street before turning into Greenwattle Street, crossing to the wrong side of the road before driving directly at the police motorcycle, hitting the bike and rider.

The vehicle has then driven away, later being located by police on Bridge Street at 10.25pm.

The woman and one of the men were arrested without incident after they fled the vehicle on foot, the driver allegedly assaulted and bit a police officer while being arrested.

A 29-year-old Toowoomba man is in the hospital under police guard.

A 20-year-old Toowoomba man and a 25-year-old Toowoomba woman have both been charged with one count each of armed robbery, burglary and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

They appeared before the Toowoomba Magistrates Court today.

The 50-year-old male Sergeant received a dislocated left shoulder, rib, hand and ankle injuries while a 39-year-old male constable received bite wounds to his left lower arm.
