Nine/ Ten

As the Married at First Sight Contestants make their final decisions this week as to whether or not they will continue their relationships outside the experiment, we have noticed a pattern emerging that we've seen time and time again.

Whether it be a brutal dumping or declaration of love, the speeches in all reality love shows (MAFS, The Bachelor, The Bachelorette) seem to go the same way.

We've created this handy diagram to explain it better.

When it comes to Brutal Dumping's, such as Ali & Todd, Sophie & Jarrod, Mark & Ning, we've noticed the structure of their speech always seems to go the same way.

It starts with the cliche "I came into this experiment looking for love", then a launch into how great the person is giving them false hope, followed by the crushing blow of "I fell in love, but not with you" or similar at the end.

For the Happy Ending speeches, the pattern is reversed.

It kicks off with how great things have been for the couple, then the music goes dark while they share concerns about the relationship.

"How will we make long distance work?", "Do you want kids?" etc etc.

But alas, there is light at the end of the tunnel, with a total 180 comment like "In spite of these issues, you're still the one", or "I'm happy to work hard for you". Cue the happy music.

Still don't believe us? Here's an analysis of two speeches as an example.
