With lockdown regulations relaxing, many pubs, cafes and restaurants are getting ready to open up their doors.

To celebrate the big milestone, hospitality group Applejack has announced they will introduce a ‘choose what you pay’ initiative for the first reopening day of each of their five venues, as a way to give back to their staff.

The venues include SoCal (Neutral Bay), The Butler (Potts Point), The Botanist (Kirribilli), Endeavour Tap Rooms (The Rocks) and Bopp & Tone (CBD).

So how will it work?

During the first day of trade at each of their restaurants (which will see a staggered reopening rollout), food will be provided on-the-house (excluding all drink sales), allowing patrons to choose what they wish to pay for their food orders.

All monetary contributions for the group-wide ‘Food Sales For Staff’ initiative will be pooled and shared equally, going directly to all returning Applejack employees that lost their income and weren't eligible for the government's JobKeeper Payment scheme.

“There is no hidden clause, no catch – we’ve ensured our business is in a financially stable position to cover the costs and we just want to give back to our employees who have done it tough,” affirmed founders Hamish Watts and Ben Carroll.

“Each restaurant will have its own spin staying true to the offerings that you’ve grown to love, and all the food served will be on the house to allow customers’ contribution to go directly to the people who serve them.”

Takeaway café June’s Shoppe already opened back on May 26, but the next major opening will be SoCal on June 22!
