There's A Parking Loophole In Parramatta That Could See Your Fines Refunded

If you've copped a parking fine in Parramatta, we could have good news for you.

A parking loophole has been uncovered which could see Parramatta Council forced to refund nearly $2 million in fines.

It turns out that any parking rangers who marked tyres with crayon instead of chalk could be considered unlawful, to the point that the council has sought legal advice.

This comes as the Council's Parking Enforcement Policy has 'chalk' listed specifically as the appropriate way to mark tyres - not crayon.

As a result, fines issued from September 2017 could be affected.

There remains a bit of doubt as the Road Transport Act for NSW refers to 'crayon', 'chalk' and 'similar substances', so it depends whether this covers the Council.
