Independent Ali Cupper announced as MP
The official results of the State Election are expected to be declared later today, the distribution of preferences putting Independent Ali Cupper into the top position.
The Sunraysia Daily reports - Ms Cupper leads at 50.34% over former Nationals MP Peter Crisp, securing her place in parliament by a mere 254 votes.
Ali Cupper will be the first woman to represent Mildura in State Parliament.
The new MP will soon present a wish list for the region to Parliament, the management of Mildura Base Hospital in her sights.
The Victorian Electoral Commission is expected to officially declare the result today.
