Yesterday, we heard the heartbreaking news that former Home and Away star Ben Unwin has passed away.

Ben was just 41-years-old and is believed to have passed away last week.

NSW police released a statement on August 14 stating "Police attended Minyon Falls, Whian Whian, responding to a concern for welfare. The body of a 41-year-old man was located. The death has not been treated as suspicious.”

Ben played the popular character Jesse McGregor on Home and Away from 1996 to 2000. He then returned in 2002 and stayed on the series for a few more years.

As the news started to spread, Home and Away cast members have come forward to pay tribute to their co-star.

Ada Nicodemou, who plays Leah Patterson on the show, who dated Ben’s character Jesse, released a statement to Yahoo Lifestyle, saying,  “I just woke up to the tragic news of Ben’s passing, my heart goes out to his family.”

Lynne McGranger, who plays Irene Roberts on the soap also commented, describing it as a “terrible tragedy” and she gave her “Deepest condolences to his friends and family,”

Former Home and Away star Kimberley Cooper also took to her Instagram to share this touching tribute, captioning the post with.  “My first  TV week cover was with you. We had years of laughter, be it giggles on set trying to get through scenes as lovers or doubled over belly laughs at the pubs after work. I will be sad for now, but I promise to tell stories of great joy about our times together. You forever hold a special place in my heart. Love you Onion ❤️

Home and Away's official Instagram account posted on behalf of the cast and crew, writing, “The cast and crew of Home and Away are saddened to hear the passing of Ben Unwin. Ben played the character Jesse McGregor and joined the cast in 1996 - 2000, returning to Summer Bay in 2002 - 2005. We send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Ben."

Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this time.
