The Height Calculation That Left Kate Stumped and Out of Pocket $1,000!

During Wednesday’s show, Hughesy mentioned he was 178 centimetres tall which would find him being 5 foot, 10 inches.

Kate was quick (maybe too quick), to pull him up on this measurement.

“Ah I think you’ll find, that 178 centimetres is not even 5 foot 8” she told him confidently.

Hughesy was adamant his calculation was accurate making a $100 bet that he was 5’10”, Kate increasing the bet to $1,000 that he was only 5’8”.

How did this happen?

As listener, Megan explained on Facebook, “178 cm divided by feet (12 inches) is 5.8. As in .8 (80%) of a foot.” 

She continued to explain that 80% of a foot is 10 inches.

She wasn’t the only one to pull Kate up on this calculation mishap.
