After eight years of trade, one of Brisbane's most popular local markets have decided to shut down at the end of the month.

The Eagle Farm Markets have been providing fresh fruit, vegetables, hot food and other unique pieces for the people of Ascot for  almost a decade and today, they announced that they would be shutting down for good at the end of October.

The news was announced on the market's Instagram page earlier today, stating that Sunday, the 28th of October, will be their last day of trade.

"It is with great sadness that we announce the Eagle Farm Markets will be closing at the end of October 2018.

"We would like to thank our Stallholders for their steadfast support through the eight years of trade, our customers for making the Markets part of their Sunday ritual, our talented musicians and performers who bring to Markets to life each week, the many and varied charity and community groups who came along to fundraise, and our wonderful staff members who set up, clean and pack down the Market each day.

"We hope you will join us on Sunday, 28 October for our very last day."

The markets also shared a post on Facebook that has been met with sadness from the Ascot community.

It's the end of an Eagle Farm era.
