Local construction firm Mendi will be conducting the upgrade to Dalrymple Road and Greenview Drive intersection, which will create 50 local jobs.

The upgrade will welcome traffic lights, protected turning lanes, concrete medians throughout AND new bike lanes.

So it sounds like we’ll barely recognise it! (which is a good thing, because at the moment it’s a nightmare for drivers)

Acting Mayor Les Walker said 50 jobs will be created over the life of the project.

“Council recently delivered the biggest infrastructure budget in the city’s history and delivering these shovel-ready projects to create jobs for locals was a key priority,” Cr Walker said.

“More than $430 million is being invested in infrastructure projects right throughout Townsville and Council is focused on ensuring local businesses have the best chance possible of securing that work.”

Local Councillor Russ Cook said he had campaigned for the Dalrymple Road and Greenview Drive intersection upgrade to be included in this year’s Budget.

“Motorists and locals have wanted this upgrade for a number of years and I’m proud to be part of a team of Councillors that will deliver this project to improve safety in the area,” Cr Cook said.

Within the works improved drainage will also be included in the six month project.

Stay tuned for deets on when the work will start and how it’ll impact your drive to work.
