TERMINALLY ILL CANBERRA TODDLER STARTS RADIATION

It’s been an emotional 10 days for Annabelle’s family.

You may have read our story last week about how Canberra parents Kathie Griffiths and Adam Potts were told their beautiful 3 year daughter had an aggressive brain tumour that meant she had anywhere from one month to three years to live.

Since Annabelle’s diagnosis on December 30, it’s been a week of tests, meetings and scans.

Today, Annabelle starts her first round of radiation therapy which will be five days a week for six weeks.

The treatment is expected to buy her more time, but it won’t be a permanent fix.

“Kathie and Adam have one thing on their minds. What’s best for Annabelle and that’s it. There’s no illusion on where this will end up,” Annabelle’s uncle, Anthony Griffiths, said.

Annabelle’s dad Adam is also meeting with renowned neurosurgeon Dr Charlie Teo today, to see what the surgery options are.

The community has rallied behind the family, helping raise nearly $60,000 to help with medical costs and loss of income, since both parents can’t work while they stay by her side.

“I pray to God and the angels above that this little princess kicks this illness in the butt and lives a full happy fulfilling life beside her family and friends. I have children of my own and I really hope you get through this kiddo. Much love, prayers and heaps of cuddles, from my family to you and your family darling,” Amy wrote.

“So tragic! Sending our love and prayers! Stay strong!” Annie posted.

“Sending you all prayers for Annabelle. My son Lachie used to go to the same daycare as Annabelle until Kathie left to go on maternity leave. Lachie is sending Annabelle a lot of hugs,” Jodi said.

The messages of love and support have touched Annabelle’s loved ones.

“Thank you to all of the amazing people who have donated. Your support means so much to our family,” Annabelle’s aunty, Louise Griffiths, said.
