Neighbours has celebrated their first same-sex marriage between David and Aaron. This morning, Flick & Tim caught up with Takaya Honda, who plays David, to talk about what this means for Australian TV, and for the future for the characters...

Apparently this wasn't a hasty decision made by script writers after the legalisation of same-sex marriages in Australia, but something that's been in the works for 2 years!

"This is something that, when I first started on the show 2 years ago, the head of script at that time said to me, 'Look, you and Aaron are a long-term couple and our goal is to get you guys married'. So we've been working towards this for 2 years, and me and Matty have been working really hard to foster a relationship that the audience would be barracking for when it came to this moment."

Takaya also told Flick & Tim about what it was like having the wedding performed by cameo Magda Szubanski, and even spilled the tea on whether there could be a baby for Doctor David and Aaron in the show's near future...
