A free community event is being held on Monday 17th June at Kildare Catholic College Hall to discuss mental health and wellbeing.

Hosted by Professor Tim Carey, director of Flinders University's Centre for Remote Health in Alice springs, has worked as a clinical psychologist in remote Australia.

His focus is the importance of control to health and wellbeing and recognition of conflict as an explanation of psychological distress.

He also developed a smartphone app called MindSurf.

Dane caught up with the Chair of Friends of Sunflower House Joanne Carter about this amazing event on stamping out the stigma around mental health issues.

There are a number of buses leaving from the surrounding areas including Lockhart, The Rock, Uranquinty, Temora, Tumut, Gundagai, Coolamon, Ganmain and Marrar.
