While mums cut back on drinking during pregnancy – most will be back to their pre-baby level by the time their kids are back at school.

Men on the other hand, don’t change their drinking at all.

According to research led by the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, women dramatically reduce their drinking on learning they are pregnant.

The study, which drew data from 4000 people also found 15 per cent of mothers with children aged five of over reported binge drinking in the past week, while 25 per cent of women without kids reported the behaviour.

The study also found men were equally likely to report this behaviour whether they were a parent or not.
