UPDATE: An emergency situation has been revoked for the grass fire burning at Phillips Park at Main Beach.

It was revoked at 4.16pm on Monday with the roads reopened to traffic.

EARLIER: An emergency situation has been declared as fire crews battle a large grass fire burning at Main Beach.

Emergency services were called to the area at Phillips Park at The Spit at around midday on Monday, before SeaWorld Drive was closed off to motorists.

The emergency situation was declared at 2.35pm, with an exclusion zone set up from the Phillip Park car park in the north, south to the Pacific Mirage Villas, east to the Pacific Ocean and west to SeaWorld drive.

All evacuations inside the zone were completed with people asked to avoid the area.
