This Sunday is Remembrance Day and this year is commemorating the 100th year anniversary of the World War 1 armistice.

Services are taking place in Bendigo on Pall Mall from 10.25am and at Eaglehawk at Brassey Square from 10.45am

The Bendigo service beginning with a reenactment of the Welcome Home march from the Town Hall to Pall Mall which took place a century ago, with veterans, Greater Bendigo councillors, cadets, scouts and Girl Guides to march.

While at 11.10am, residents across Bendigo are being encouraged to ring a bell for 5 minutes in another reenactment - this time signifying what happened when the Great War ended in 1918.

In another special event for this year's Centenary Armistice commemorations - the White Night display at the Soldiers Memorial Institute in Pall Mall will return on Friday night and Saturday night.

Bendigo District RSL sub-branch president Peter Swandale is urging residents to help out our veterans and purchase a poppy ahead of Sunday.

"All that money goes back to the veterans and that's important for us to develop programs to support all veterans," Swandale says.

People can purchase poppies from your local RSL sub-branch or Woolworths outlets.
