A missing 23-year-old man and his dog have spent a third night in near-freezing temperatures in Victoria's alpine region, as the search resumes to find them.

Police air wing, search and rescue and the State Emergency Service are back on the hunt to find Ferntree Gully man Jeremy Boyden and his Jack Russell terrier on Monday.

Mr Boyden was last seen on Dargo High Plains Road, near the Bicentennial track north of Dargo, on Friday about 5pm, and his family is concerned for his welfare.
