News has broken this arvo that the refs from the Cowboys v Storm game have been relegated following a weekly media briefing.

On Friday night at 1300SMILES Stadium, new Cowboys recruit Nene Macdonald went down in an ankle fracturing tackle, but play was not pulled up.

Clashing in the same tackle was fellow Cowboy John Asiata who managed to hyperextend his elbow- ouch!

NRL.com reporter Dan Walsh says NRL head of football Graham Annesley announced the decision to relegate the refs on Monday at his weekly media briefing.

"Atkins and Badger allowed play to continue after Macdonald suffered the injury in a tackle-gone-wrong alongside teammate John Asiata late in the clash with Melbourne in Townsville on Saturday night."

NRL authorities decided that the decision is not acceptable and that it should've been picked up on by the officiating crew.
