The Royal Automobile Club (RAC) of Western Australia has welcomed government plans to build the biggest electric vehicle highway in the land.

By the end of 2021, 90-plus fast-charging stations will be installed across the highway with a goal on saving environment woes and building cheaper sustainable movement.

The charging areas across the regions will be installed from in places such as Kununurra to Esperance.

Rhys Heron from the RAC said the new movement into making a full highway available for electric is a small step towards a plan for the future.

"We see this as a really positive step to driving the uptake of electric vehicles." said Mr Herron.

"There are a range of policy measures that the governments can look at to drive electric vehicle adoption, this is just one of them.

"We would really encourage the WA government to also look at other opportunities to also accelerate electric vehicles in Australia."
