Police Officer Injured After Car Drove Over Foot In Pursuit

A police officer has been injured after an incident in Parramatta which saw a driver run over an officer's foot after a confrontation.

Police pursued the car after it went through a red light at an intersection of the Great Western Highway and Marsden Street overnight.

Attempts were made by officers to break the driver's side window as it stopped traffic, but the driver sped up and ran over the officer's foot.

The driver eventually hit another car at the nearby Marsden and Argyle Street intersection, and has fled on foot.
