A 43-year-old Manoora man was charged yesterday following investigations into an incident that occurred at a city restaurant on February 15.

A group of people employed at a local business were at the restaurant as part of a staff party when a man allegedly became verbally aggressive toward another male work colleague.

It will be further alleged that the man then struck his colleague in the face with a wine glass, which subsequently shattered.

The action allegedly resulted in the 37-year-old male victim sustaining a significant facial laceration requiring treatment at Cairns Hospital.

Detectives spoke with the 43-year-old man late last night and he was subsequently arrested and charged with one count of unlawful wounding.

He is expected to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on March 7.
