Pandemic modelling commissioned by the Palaszczuk Government has predicted that opening the borders will be deadly for some Queenslanders.

The modelling by QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute has predicted up to 200 people could die within the first three months of the border opening.

Our Chief Health Officer is confident the states health system can withstand the strain as long as the state continues high levels of testing and contact tracing.

Covid Modeller Associate Professor James Roberts has predicted that Queensland hospitals would see a peak in cases in August 2022.

This comes after the Government announced that booster shots could be available by Christmas for the general public.

People who are immunocompromised can already receive a booster shot, to ensure that they remain protected as borders open up.
