NSW’s daily Covid-19 case numbers have dropped significantly for the first time in a long time with 935 new infections recorded and sadly, four deaths.

Despite the promising signs in the daily case number, Premier Gladys Berejiklian says the state must prepare to see a spike in the casualty rate next month.

“Even if case numbers go down we should expect, unfortunately, that the number of people in intensive care and the number of people who lose their lives to go up. As we’ve said consistently because we’ve had a number of cases in the last few weeks, people ordinarily get very sick in the second week of the illness,” she said.

Berejiklian went on to insist that even with the promising signs, the population must remain vigilant and resist being complacent as the state pushes on to reach the 70% double dose rate target.

As of now, across Greater Sydney, limits on outdoor exercise have eased and 5 fully vaccinated people can now meet outdoors for a picnic.
