It seems every week we hear about a local distillery winning a major award both nationally and internationally.

The latest comes from the inaugural Australian Gin Awards who have awarded Kangaroo Island Spirit's O’Gin the overall contemporary Best In Show!

KIS O’Gin stood out amongst the 180 gins entered from 66 Aussie distillers.

“KIS O’Gin is handcrafted, highlighting juniper, coriander and angelica root in a contemporary London style,” the judges wrote.

“Key to its character is the subtle infusion of Kangaroo Island coastal daisy Olearia Axillaris. Sometimes known as wild rosemary, this shrub of the Asteracea family flourishes along South Australia’s coastal regions – it is the perfect complement to enhance the gin’s lively structure.

“Savoury and dry with a burst of orange, O’Gin has a nose which recalls beach dunes on a hot summer day.”

South Australia’s Red Hen Gin was also named Best in Show for the Classic Dry category!
