New Play Equipment to Revamp Myall Creek Parklands

Picnics, play dates, and rest stops at the Jimbour Street Parklands, off the Warrego Highway in Dalby will become a lot more fun with Western Downs Regional Council currently working on upgrading the picnic areas, BBQs, and installing new play equipment as part of the $1.2 million.

• The beautification of the Myall Creek Parklands has received a 60% subsidy of $740,790 under the Queensland Government’s Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program (LGGSP);
• Works have already commenced on removing existing outdated facilities, making way for the installation of modern play equipment in line with current safety standards;
• The upgrade will include replacing the existing BBQs, picnic shelters, and installing a new playground;
• The new playground will include a mouse house, see-saw, spinner bowl, open-ended track ride with a tower and slide, two bay swing set including a toddler seat;
• This stage of the Myall Creek Parklands revitalisation project is due to be completed by Friday 23 June (weather permitting).

Council Spokesperson for Parks, Open Spaces and Cemeteries Councillor Carolyn Tillman said the revamped facilities will create an enriched and attractive space for residents and visitors along the Myall Creek.

“This exciting refurbishment will give the Myall Creek a fun and welcoming makeover, creating a more accessible space for families and tourists to socialise and rest,” she said.

“It will make the Myall Creek Parklands a more enjoyable setting for the whole community, for local events and activities as well as for family outings.

“They’ll be more opportunities for social gatherings thanks to brand new BBQ and picnic areas, as well as the addition of extra lighting and fun new play equipment for the kids.

“It’s about making our great open spaces welcoming places for tourists to stop, as well as giving our community usable leisure areas for everyone to enjoy.”
