Shop-a-holics get excited because Lake Macquarie is getting another retail hub.

The $90 million development is planned along the Pacific Highway at Bennetts Green and will include a Bunnings, Anaconda, Spotlight, two fast food restaurants and a service station.

The site was previously earmarked for a Masters store, however the hardware chain closed before it became reality.

It's the largest development Lake Macquarie has seen since the expansion of Charlestown Square in 2010.

It'll create 800 jobs during construction and 600 full-time positions afterwards.

"We had a fair amount of development in and around that area of Mount Hutton. We seen a $58 million re-development of Mount Hutton Shopping Centre. We've also seen a lot of residents around Mount Hutton and Windale... there's also been an investment in a skate park... so there's lots happening in that area", said Lake Macquaire Major Kay Fraser.

As a result - the Belmont Bunnings down the road will be closing down. It's unclear what will happen to that site.
