MURDER MANHUNT: Suspect Arrested Across The Road From Police Station
He'll face court today..
A man's been charged with murder over the fatal stabbing of a good samaritan at Bolton Point on Sunday night.
Following a major manhunt, the 32-year-old was arrested at 7pm last night at Belmont McDonalds, just metres from Belmont Police Station.
He'll appear in Newcastle Local Court today.
Glen Smith was killed after stepping in to help a woman flee an abusive relationship
He's accused of stabbing Glen Smith with a sword at a home in Leumeah Place, after the victim stepped in to help a woman trying to flee domestic violence.
Mr Smith's devastated fiancee says the 35-year-old died in her arms.
"I was rocking him in my arms and saying just breathe, just breathe. He opened his eyes and said 'I love you," Michelle Bell said.
