Multi-Vehicle Crash At Awaba

There's been a multi-vehicle accident at Awaba this afternoon.

Emergency crews including the Westpac Rescue Chopper were called to Cessnock Road at Mulbring Street just at around 5.15pm.

It's understood at least one motorist was trapped in one of the vehicles.

A man in his 60s has been airlifted to the John Hunter Hospital with leg injuries. 

Police have confirmed the cars are being moved off the road - however expect delays in both directions.

Drivers are best to take George Booth Drive if possible.
